One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Bay Area Motorcycle Accidents
This past July, we learned again about the risks faced by motorcyclists in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Even though there have been national campaigns to heighten awareness of the presence of bikers on the roadways, many motor vehicle operators simply fail to pay requisite attention and travel into the path of a motorcycle.
In early July, a motorcyclist was traveling on Park Presidio Boulevard in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park when he came around a curve and was struck by a car in the lane next to him. The impact of the crash threw him from his bike and he was run over by the car next to him. He died at the hospital from his injuries.
In a separate incident, another motorcyclist lost control of his bike on Highway 1 north of the city of Bolinas. He was thrown into the path of another vehicle, and suffered a broken leg and severe cuts and abrasions.
When you have been injured while riding on a motorcycle, even if you were hurt in a single bike accident, you may be able to recover compensation for your injuries. The accident may have been caused by the negligence of another driver, who forced you off the road. It may also be the result of defects in the roadway, or poorly designed or manufactured components on your bike.
